Episode 2 | Chaos always follows the storms
They didn't expect the shadows to fight back.
Chris Faultly dropped from a fire escape, his boots splashing into the flooded pavement as a Pachino enforcer swung a heavy lead pipe at his head. Ducking low beneath the arc, Chris drove a textbook wing chun palm strike straight into the thug's ribs, sending him crashing into a brick wall. Around him, the elite ninjas moved like phantoms through the sheets of rain, disarming gunmen and neutralizing lookouts with silent, surgical precision. Chris wiped the stinging rain from his eyes, his heart hammering a frantic rhythm against his ribs. They were holding the line, keeping the streets from falling entirely to the gang.
Back at the Dragons Leaf tea shop, however, the line had already broken.
The front glass had been shattered inward by a heavy storm-flung timber, and knee-high water sloshed across the floorboards amidst overturned tables and broken ceramic. Master Liu Fong stood in the center of the wreckage, breathing heavily, his knuckles bruised and bloodied. Three Pachino enforcers circled him like wolves, brandishing switchblades and heavy clubs. Age had slowed the old master's recovery, and a brutal kick to the chest had sent him sliding to his knees, his vision blurring as rain poured through the broken storefront.
One of the thugs grinned, raising a heavy iron-shod bat for the final swing. "End of the line, old man."
Before the blow could land, a deafening blast of blue plasma tore through the shattered window, vaporizing the bat into a cloud of glowing embers.
The thugs staggered back, screaming in shock as a towering figure stepped through the rushing water into the shop. Half of his face gleamed with advanced cybernetic plating, a red optical sensor cutting sharply through the dim, storm-lit interior, while his heavy jacket swirled in the wind. It was Cyborg Post, and his cannon arm was still smoking from the discharge.
"You guys picked the wrong tea shop," Cyborg Post said, his voice echoing with mechanical resonance.
With a mechanical whir, he closed the distance in a blur, sweeping the legs out from under the lead enforcer and tossing the second through the drywall with casual strength. Liu Fong caught his breath, leaning heavily against a shattered table, and offered a grim, appreciative nod to the cybernetic hero as the remaining thugs scrambled backward into the stormy night.
